SB01 | Virtual Voyaging Through California State Parks (Room Booth 2103)

As cutting-edge technology continues to infiltrate K-12 classrooms, California State Parks is leveraging the latest in video conferencing to treat students to virtual field trips via its award-winning distance-learning program: Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students (PORTS). Utilizing hardware from partner Belkin International, park rangers are able to interact with students in real-time, studying kelp forests, redwood ecology, butterfly migration & more. By removing geographic and social barriers, PORTS engaged more than 56k K-12 students in California in the last year. Beyond California, 10k students connected to PORTS from schools spanning 38 states and countries including Australia, Brazil, India & more.
