Tracks: Future of EdTech Educator

Two media specialists at the middle school level, and one media specialist at the elementary level, will discuss how a makerspace can be set up in any media center. Each of our spaces is very different from each other, but our goals are all the same. We strive to engage learners, promote creativity, and enhance higher level thinking skills. I have a designated room for my makerspace, and I run monthly school wide challenges and have set up "exploration stations" throughout the media center. The second middle school media specialist uses bins and kits to store her materials, and these are checked out to students who would like to participate in makerspace projects. The third media specialist teaches classes throughout the day as part of the” Specials” rotation. Her makerspace is used in conjunction with her daily instruction across the elementary grade levels.
