DISTRIBUTECH International 2020

The Marriage of DERMS and DRMS (Demand Response) (Room 217B)

DERMS is a relatively new and evolving concept for managing the operation of distributed energy resources, including distributed generators, energy storage, and controllable loads.  Many new business processes will be needed for effective implementation of DERMS, including resource registration, controls interfaces, and (possibly in the future) management of incentive payments to DERMS participants. These business processes are similar to those needed for demand response management, which has gained maturity in the electric utility industry through years of experience. This panel session will cover the synergies between DRMS and DERMS and level of integration of the two types of systems. In particular, management of controllable loads (demand response) from within the DERMS will be considered.
