Mass gatherings pose potential threats to the community that can overwhelm a 911 and healthcare system. This presentation will review national events and apply a lessons-learned approach to better understand each threat. It will discuss the planning principles required to mitigate those threats including engaging your law enforcement and healthcare partners to medically contain an event. It will also discuss key medical and operational techniques that have been shown to be effective in responding to those threats, reducing EMS transports and producing a safer mass gathering.
