Doing the Right Thing: A New Take on Digital Citizenship (Room North 230B)

Good digital citizenship is increasingly complex. Come learn about safeguarding personally identifying information, managing one's online persona and dealing with cyber vigilantism. During this workshop you will review and discuss the critical need for safeguarding personally identifiable information; explore how one's digital tattoo (or digital footprint) is created and follows its owner everywhere; and discuss the concept of cyber vigilantism, recent examples, and how this phenomenon — particularly public shaming — impacts educators and students. An online agenda will be provided for use during and after the conference, and you will be able to access all materials referenced.
