FETC 2018

Digital Consumption and Creation in a Changing Literacy Landscape (Room North 320FG)

It used to be if you could read you could work. Being literate in today's world means more than just being able to read. Constant access to information and the digital tools used to access that information is changing the definition of literacy and what it means to be literate. Our understanding of the evolving definition of literacy has to change to prepare students for this modern world. Join us as we examine how literacy has changed in the context of learning, the current state of being literate in a digital world, and how teachers and leaders can support a more holistic approach to literacy instruction in the classroom. Participants will take part in a conversation around the multiple dimensions of literacy, investigate how the definition of literacy has changed, and understand how every educator is a teacher of literacy.
