Emergency medicine physician and author Sampson Davis, MD was raised the fifth of six children in Newark, NJ, one of the nation's poorest cities. He grew-up in cramped living quarters, surrounded by fragmented families, crime and drugs. Dr. Davis will share his inspiring and determined journey toward becoming a board-certified emergency medicine physician, and his first-hand observations of how one's surroundings can complicate healthy life options that are further strained by an undersupply of health care providers and facilities. He'll discuss the health inequality gap in America, emphasizing the need for a tailored approach to address social determinants of health. His insights will highlight the importance of recognizing and responding to the diverse needs of different communities to effectively combat health disparities.
