In a Hunger Games Environment, Creating an Evaluations Ecosystem by Leveraging Teletherapy. (Room 203 second floor)

When the Oklahoma Department of Education offered to assist with student evaluations, Dr. Lindsay Smith, Executive Director of Special Services at Union Public Schools, knew she had to take action and tackle two pressing challenges: the shortage of School Psychologists and rising staff burnout. Determined to lighten workloads and restore balance for her team, she trialed this innovative solution offered by the state—remote evaluations delivered by virtual school psychologists. Though initially concerned about maintaining the high-quality clinical standards she and her team worked hard to establish, the results exceeded everyone’s expectations. Tulsa expanded its virtual evaluations program, and it has provided much-needed relief for her staff while meeting student needs. Join Dr. Smith as she shares her tips for successfully integrating a remote services model to help restore balance and support onsite special education teams.
