Speaker(s):
Cheryl-Marie Manson, Project Managr, Michigan Association for the Administrators of Special Education;
Ben Hicks, Associate Director, Michigan Association of Administrators of Special Education
This session will explore two innovative initiatives developed by the Michigan Association of Administrators of Special Education (MAASE) to address critical needs in special education: Developing Inclusive Leaders – A professional learning initiative designed to equip school administrators with the knowledge and strategies needed to foster inclusive, equitable, and legally compliant learning environments for students with disabilities. Empowering Paraeducators – A structured professional learning series that provides paraeducators with the training and support necessary to enhance student learning, implement high-leverage practices, and collaborate effectively with instructional teams. Attendees will gain insights into research-based training models, sustainable funding structures, and strategies for implementing similar programs in their own states or districts. Participants will leave with practical tools and frameworks to develop leadership capacity and elevate the role of paraeducators in their schools.
