The field of education is inundated with practices claiming to align with the Science of Reading (SOR). When the field is saturated with SOR claims it may be challenging to separate fact from fiction, especially when making curricular and instructional decisions for students with reading disabilities. In this session we help administrators and educational decision makers separate fact from fiction and share resources to help administrators support teachers implementing evidence-based reading instruction for students with SLD. The presenters will set the stage by providing a clear overview of SOR for special education leaders and administrators followed by rich discussions and examples that exemplify evidence-based reading practices for students with SLD. The presentation will not endorse any reading curriculum, but will provide clear information for special education leaders to evaluate current and future reading programs.
