Implementing IDEA's proportionate share and expenditure calculations, meaningful consultation and equitable service plan requirements can be challenging. In this presentation OSEP staff will review relevant IDEA requirements and reintroduce the audience to OSEP's comprehensive 2022 guidance "Questions and Answers on Serving Children with Disabilities Placed by Their Parents in Private Schools." The session will also ask audience members to identify best practices and participate in a dialogue about their experiences in working with private school officials and providing services to parentally placed private school children with disabilities. Staff from OSEP will also share information about its review of State complaint decisions filed by private school officials--an emerging practice that can be usually be avoided with two simple strategies that you will learn during the session.
