There's No Co-Teaching without Co-Planning: Supporting Collaboration in Co-Teaching Partnerships (Room 105 first floor)

This presentation proposal focuses on the powerful impact of co-planning on the achievement of exceptional learners. The session will explore how collaborative planning between general education and special education teachers enhances instructional design, supports individualized learning, and fosters a more inclusive classroom environment. Using three protocols, the presenters will demonstrate how to facilitate co-planning sessions of varying lengths. In addition to strategies for overcoming time constraints, administrators will gain insights into how to overcome communication barriers. The session aims to provide actionable tools for administrators looking to strengthen teachers co-planning practices, ultimately enhancing the educational experience for all learners. Additionally, the session will emphasize the role of school leadership in promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement through on-going coaching cycles with their general education and special co-teaching partnerships.
