Using Data to Address Change: Root Cause Analysis Data Preparation (Room 206 A second floor)

Root cause analysis (RCA) is a structured approach used to investigate and understand the underlying factors contributing to organizational challenges. A foundational component of this process is data preparation, which involves identifying and gathering high-quality, relevant data to support meaningful analysis. This critical step equips teams with the insights they need to make informed decisions and drive effective improvement strategies. In this session, presenters will guide participants through three primary steps for preparing data to conduct effective root cause analyses: 1) establishing leadership and facilitation skills, 2) identifying the data needed to complete an RCA, and 3) preparing data to complete a data analysis. To illustrate these steps, participants will explore an example related to disciplinary removals for students with disabilities.
