Using Artificial Intelligence for Facade and Structural Inspections (Room Music City Center - 202 B)

Artificial Intelligence is a fast-growing field with new applications being developed at a rapid pace for various consumer and business needs. In this presentation, we will discuss how Computer Vision – a narrow form of AI –in combination with drone surveys and cloud-based digital twin models, can be applied to bring about vast efficiencies in the façade and structural inspection processes, both in terms of cost as well as time. Topics will include the process of training computer vision models, metrics to evaluate their performance and some limitations of the technology. Information will also be provided on practical implementation of these technologies such as in T2D2, a self-learning software platform that detects and classifies visible damage to structures and materials. This presentation is ideal for anyone who is involved in the physical inspection of a building exterior. This can include property managers, building owners and engineers.
