Metal AM process steps depend on many factors including the technology, equipment, industry, and application. Pre-processing encompasses the steps between design and printing, including material qualifications and preparations. Post-processing can be more expensive and time consuming than the printing process itself. Post-processing steps vary widely between AM processes, equipment, and applications. These steps need to be planned carefully to meet part requirements. All steps may be different or specific to accuracy, surface roughness, or strengths to name a few. Validation usually requires iteration which is specific to each technology. Attend this workshop for a complete overview of pre- and post-processing of additive manufacturing technologies.
