This workshop features three separate components, all of which are critical to understanding and addressing opioids in your workplace. A presentation of new research done by NORC at the University of Chicago will help you understand the cost of the opioid epidemic and other substance use on your workplace – breaking down costs of absenteeism, healthcare costs, turnover, and more. Shatterproof will present on the National Stigma Initiative and help you understand the multiple ways that stigma against people who have an opioid use disorder manifests in the workplace, and what can be done to address this stigma. We end with an interactive session where you will use the NSC Opioids at Work Employer Toolkit to build an individualized action plan for your organization. You will leave this interactive workshop with concrete ideas and plans to effect change immediately. This session is meant for safety professionals, human resources professionals, and management.
