Innovations at the MRF: Predictive vs. Preventative Maintenance (Room Exhibit Hall Booth 615)

23 Oct 19
2:30 PM - 2:45 PM

Tracks: Executive Management, Recycling Operations

As in other industries, the Internet of Things (IoT) and “Big Data” also apply to recycling. As opposed to more traditional preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, which draws on data streams collected by IoT devices in recycling facilities, if used correctly, can improve efficiencies, reduce downtime for recycling managers and may improve bale quality overall. But before an investment of time and capital is made, an effort to understand the goals of predictive maintenance and implementing IoT capacity is important.

This session explores the differences between predictive and preventative maintenance, their current use in the industry, the technologies involved, and how IoT aids predictive and preventative maintenance. Learn how these technologies benefit the industry overall, major challenges related to their use and what the future holds.
