An effective solid waste planning process should help a municipality to meet its short-, medium- and long-term goals, while taking into consideration the economic, social and environmental issues of solid waste management policies, programs, and infrastructure options. This presentation will provide approaches to preparing a solid waste plan that achieves these goals and will include examples of recent planning projects completed using this approach.Attendees will gain insight into planning processes that are effective, efficient and relevant.
