The Camino de Santiago is an 800-kilometer (500-mile) pilgrimage across northern Spain that started 12 centuries ago. Santiago is reputedly the city in which the apostle St. James is buried. The main route is called the French Way and involves walking from the French Pyrenees to Santiago, Spain. I walked it in May, and it provided 35 days of experiences and lessons — experiences become lessons, if you are paying attention. My tale takes us from what prompted this adventure through how I executed it to get me to the end (if there is ever an end to one’s Camino) — even though I was suffering walking pneumonia (literally). Hear about the people, food, scenery, and excitement that created my life-changing experiences and lessons. The lessons and experiences are different for everyone — this is my story.
