We will provide a brief background on the history of deep learning, the major milestones that have moved it forward, and the state of the technology today. The audience will learn about the current work in the industry to democratize AI and how anyone with an interest in learning can get started with just a personal computer and some persistence. We will tell the story of how DeOldify was developed and its subsequent popularity on the internet. We’ll detail the crucial role of open source and the surrounding community in introducing key improvements. Finally, we’ll walk the audience through some of the lessons learned – key lessons that can translate to their own endeavors.
