Quantitative health risk assessment is being more commonly used at solid waste facilities to assess the health and safety risk to on-site workers, outside users of the facility, and the off-site general public. It is an excellent tool to allow facility owner/operators to evaluate the potential health impacts to receptors that may be exposed to conditions at the facility and/or to chemicals released from the facility. Several case studies will be presented to provide real world examples of how risk assessments can solve certain problems at solid waste facilities.
Through the presentation, attendees will better understand how risk assessments are performed, what they can and cannot assess, and how best to use these tools at their facilities.
