With increasing incidents of drones infringing on segregated airspace or other no-fly-zones, the authorities are presented more with phone videos/images or posts from social media as supporting evidence.  With mountains of media available, how feasible is it to detect drone type and predict direction from the aforementioned media using AI?  The methodology presented will explain the feasibility and accuracy of drone detection and prediction of potential direction using daylight and night time data, level of identification accuracy, AI or evidential limitations/gaps and applications this solution can be applied to. This presentation will explore:
  • The AI methodology used to carry out the image and predictive analysis
  • The data sets used and why (day and night imagery)
  • Training of the AI and results
  • Benefits/limitations/gaps/accuracy of methodology
  • Potential applications of methodology
  • Conclusions and recommendations
