F82: Comparative Cutting Innovations with Tech Tour (Room S404A)

12 Nov 19
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Tracks: Cutting, Finishing, FINISHING

Laser Cutting
We will cover basic laser cutting compared to other processes such as plasma and waterjet.  Automation and programming will also be addressed.  Fiber laser technology offers customers another option in laser cutting equipment.  Fiber optics provide a higher power density beam ideal for cutting light gage material at higher cutting speeds.  This session also includes a guided tech tour showing live demos.

Waterjet Cutting
Learn about the latest in waterjet technology and applying waterjet technology to new applications, as well as how to get the most out of your waterjet and the future of waterjet technology. New advancements as well as a brief overview of waterjet technology and how they compare to other machine cutting processes will be covered. This session includes a guided tech tour with live demos.
David Dumas – Hypertherm, Inc.

Plasma Cutting
Latest advancements in XPR plasma cutting technology will be discussed with cut quality improvements on steel, stainless and aluminum in terms of edge angularity and better metallurgy. These process improvements will show far superior productivity with plasma on heavier plate as compared to other processes. Along with better quality and higher productivity we will look at further advancement regarding ease of use through higher speed real time communication between all of the critical components of the CNC plasma that are critical to quality and productivity.
