Our favorite sports have evolved in many ways over the years. For example, a century or so ago, baseball still required its pitchers to throw underhand and allowed fielders to retire base runners by throwing the ball directly at them; basketball still followed every made basket with a jump ball; and football still prohibited forward passes. Ever since, sports have continued to improve through countless rule changes designed to further promote fairness, excitement, marketability, safety, etc. This presentation focuses on a number of rule changes that have come and gone, rule changes that are still in effect today, and rule changes that could be implemented in the near or distant future.
