Tracks: Maintenance & Reliability

The revitalization of the metals industry involves the influx of many new personnel, both in operations and maintenance. When properly trained and embedded into a structured process, these new personnel can greatly aid the organization in achieving high reliability and low-cost maintenance. One structured process used to accelerate the concept of operator-driven reliability is known as “operator care.” This process includes equipment cleaning and upkeep, defect identification and elimination, visual management, Five S (5S), operator equipment inspections and frontline reliability. A strong front line is necessary for production and reliability improvements, and an operator care program is essential.
