Stepping in to protect from bullying can put you at risk too. Following school protocol and a strong anti-harassment, -intimidation, and -bullying policy isn't always enough. I never wanted to be a lawyer, but from 2016 to 2018, I learned a lot about being a paralegal and school law that led to winning in court after a family of a former student who instigated the bullying another child sued me. No one thought it would make it all the way to Superior Court with surveillance footage. Be encouraged about what you can do now to protect, educate, and advocate. Learn strategies for social media, documentation, and how our school created a positive reporting form to foster positivity.
