C153 | Promoting Equality for Elementary School Students Through Coding and Robotics (Room SOUTH 310BC)

29 Jan 19
3:00 PM - 3:40 PM

Tracks: Future of EdTech Administrator

Educators are expected to engage modern learners with the latest technology to set them apart from other countries and become global citizens. Frustration occurs because not all students have a level playing field. Technology will not only make the task of teaching learners with varying abilities and backgrounds easier, it will engage them and improve the institution has a whole. Educators must feel supported and valued when differentiating instruction, motivating students born in poverty, and teaching sensitivity of controversial topics. Technology can be the necessary agent of change. Once leadership reaches a shared vision of the technological world, teachers can be the agent of change within the classroom. No longer feeling burdened to incorporate technology, instead, they will witness the benefits of  giving all students access to tools to advance in this competitive society. In this session, you will identify the equality issues in your school and work towards ways on improving the learning environment for all students through strategies and tools, including coding and robotics. Computer science IS for all and you will learn there are resources that can support all schools and empower YOU to bring equality to the forefront.
