During this session the panelists will discuss incorporating private, non government based EMS organizations into high threat response planning. Every day all EMS providers who go into the public space could be called to act. Also, the threat and instances of active shooter or hostile events is rising throughout the country. There is no one place or location in which these events are more likely to occur. More and more EMS providers are becoming veterans of these events and with each event we learn more. There are many challenges in this space as there may not be equal protections and an increased risk for private organizations. Panelists will give some examples of how their organizations have faced these challenges and their innovative solutions based on real events.
