Ergonomic assessments are undergoing a sea change with advances in the use of wearable technology to track and measure movement, load and other physiological demands while performing routine job tasks. Two occupational medicine physicians will review traditional approaches to workplace ergonomic evaluations, discuss advantages and disadvantages of various wearable devices currently being deployed, compare the quality of various ergo assessment approaches to the evidence-based medicine gold standard, and make educated predictions about the future of ergonomic assessment automation.
