- Mixing traditional fabrication techniques with computer aided design tools is a promising research direction with potential to enrich both fields. - Weaving structures out of elastic ribbons offers a rich design space with potential applications across many length scales, with exciting potential applications in everything from medicine, to architecture and the built environment. - Woven spacial structures can exhibit forms with a robustness and economy of material that is difficult to replicate with other fabrication techniques.
