Operational/Technical/Regulatory
We know the top causes of failure in electrical systems: loose connections, improperly installed parts, inadequate insulation, short circuiting, overloading capacity, and accumulation of dirt and oil. Good preventive maintenance programs can help predict the imminent failure of equipment. However, electrical safety is not just about preventive maintenance – it also involves compliance with regulatory groups that are responsible for establishing safe work practices and implementing best practices. In the case of electrical safety, OSHA, NFPA, IEEE, NEC codes and requirements document hundreds of rules and best practices that need to be followed. Navigating these codes and requirements can be difficult, but staying compliant is critical. This session will provide a “how to” manual to navigate the road to compliance.
