Building a curriculum-based media festival celebrates authentic assessment and project-based learning and gives students ownership and pride in learning. Target all subject-areas and grades, or pick an area of focus (examples: marine science, mathematics, community, STEM, STEAM). Teacher or student work can win awards because both do outstanding work! Think speeches, red carpet, and proud parents. Festivals can be held at the classroom, school, district, or state level (like California).
