Leveraging the Library During a Technology Revolution (Room North 220D)

School libraries are in the midst of a revolution. Technology is overtaking our environments and many school leaders are choosing to cut library programming in order to fund technology initiatives. Decision makers need to realize that maintaining library staff during a technology shift is not a luxury but rather a necessity. We need certified school librarians, now more than ever, to ensure that students are armed with the skills necessary to navigate the sheer amount of information with which they are constantly presented. It is time for school librarians to learn to advocate. Guided by the Future Ready framework, this session will arm school librarians with the tools needed to showcase and promote the value added to an entire school community by a well funded school library. Presenters will share examples of best practices and provide participants with a guide for speaking the language of decision makers.
