Domestic Violence: Bruises Deeper Than Black n Blue™ & The Role of Dental & Health Care Providers Perspective , Assumptions, Guilt, Terror, Uncertainty, Perception,Not me No one will understand, No One will believe me… As health are providers we are at the forefront of patient care. We have the time and opportunity to interview our patients and evaluate change in behaviors, new class of medications, new oral abnormalities, including an increase in caries, erosion, abfractions or bone fractures or breaks. This program will empower the dental team member to identify and calmly and effectively communicate to the individuals the effects of domestic violence and how we can support them within our operatory and scope of practice. This Program is built around the sensitivity of the topic and the importance for us to create a safe environment for our patients without judgment but with conviction to identify the small oral changes or the dramatic effects of a physical assault on a patients as it revolves around oral health, form, function, and supporting the patient to get the help and support they need to regain confidence and a sense of normalcy.
