Session 7: Health Monitoring Systems
Flexible Hybrid Systems for the IOT
Wednesday, February 14, 2018
10:25 AM - 10:50 AM
The future Internet of Things (IOT) will require custom solutions to sense and interpret the world. Flexible Hybrid Electronics systems will enable new classes of IOT devices; sensor systems, structural electronics and wearable devices, where the “system is the package”. This presentation describes PARC’s recent application projects in environmental monitoring, wearables and supply chain solutions. Each of these application segments need a significant amount of customization for the choice of sensors, the communication protocol and, importantly, the form factor of devices. To date PARC has combined gas sensors, biosensors, temperature, pressure and humidity sensors, among others, with RFID, NFC and Bluetooth protocols as well as energy harvesting to power flexible hybrid circuits. Printing has been key to tightly integrate and customize sensors and electronics for each application. This talk will also report on recent NextFlex and FlexTech funded collaborative projects.
