1:30 PM - 3:15 PM

Tracks: Rescue

If you are called to a reported building collapse for a person passing out in a chemical storage tank or a worker injured 200 feet above the ground on a cell tower, would you know what to do if you arrive first due with your engine or ladder company? Technical rescue incidents happen. If your department has no rescue or technical rescue team, you may be all the help on scene for a while. This class shows you what you can do until help arrives. Different types of technical rescue incidents and their problems and dangers are addressed. Students learn how to start the rescue process with the equipment and training on scene. Many tasks can be accomplished safely prior to the arrival of a rescue company or technical rescue team. Gain insights on mitigation techniques that will keep you and your crew safe and perhaps save a victim. Learn how to prep the incident site for safe operations by your crew and incoming technical rescue assistance in addition to the techniques needed for rapid intervention.
