Tribal Leadership in the Fire Service (Room Lucas Oil Stadium Meeting Room 3-4)

The key to a successful fire department is understanding what inspires and motivates firefighters to work collaboratively as a cohesive team or tribe. The fire service performs highly critical work under extreme pressure that can be the difference between life and death. Optimum performance depends on a well-oiled team working in unison toward a clearly defined and agreed-on mission. Research by the authors of Tribal Leadership provide an evidence-based understanding of human performance in the workplace by aligning high-performing tribes on culture, values, and a cause. Students learn how the behaviors and performance of each tribal stage affects fire department performance and morale and the building of high-performing tribes that positively impacts day-to-day and long-term operations and morale.
