These types of incidents occur across the country. They may involve a person stuck in industrial machinery or be as routine as a ring stuck on a victim's finger. Firefighters must ask: “Are we prepared to handle these incidents?” This program introduces students to tools and methods that have been proven to be effective in rescuing victims. Case studies are reviewed as well as the pros and cons of various tactics. Medical issues are addressed, and the importance of a strong command structure and interagency operations is stressed.
