Fentanyl, Spice and Bath Salts are all over the media. Daily in the media we hear about officers exposed, people and even dogs over-dosing. There are more things out there than just opioids! The crisis is growing and the peak is nowhere in sight! What’s out there? How do you protect yourself? What kind of PPE do you need? How toxic is it? How do we decontaminate people, trucks, and equipment? How do you identify these unknown powders and substances? What is coming next? During this session we will answer all of these questions and dispel the myths and hype that are see in the media. Using science and data, the hazards and risks will be examined. This information will be the basis for an SOP that can be taken back to your department that covers; size up, PPE and respiratory selection, decontamination, and identification. Anyone can encounter this problem, be prepared to handle it.
