This course offers strategies, tactics, and knowledge for those who may face a fire in an energized setting. Although this course is heavily focused on electrical vault fires, it also offers first-hand experience on aboveground transformers, rectifiers, substations fires, and overhead hazards. Topics include manhole vs. vault fires, substation fires, D/C rectifier fires, secondary events, A/C vs. D/C hazards, detection equipment, extinguishing agents, offensive and defensive tactics, personal protective equipment, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E and NFPA 12 and scripted responses to high-voltage electrical emergencies. Gain a better understanding of electrical emergencies, where they are likely to occur, and how to create sound standard operating procedures in cooperation with your energy provider.
