Extreme Leadership: Building High-Performance Teams (Room 138-139)

09 Apr 19
8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Tracks: Leadership/management

This workshop provides measurability by reading and mapping every attendee in the room. Students learn the science of leadership through the Three Pillars of Human Excellence--(IQ) Intellectual Intelligence, (EQ) Emotional Intelligence, and (IP) Interpersonal Dynamics--and best practices for gaining greater respect and achieving more productivity and higher motivation by understanding those they lead. The fire service is traditionally based on an Old Power one-size-fits-all paramilitary culture, which employees who have never been subjected to that type of leadership often find toxic. If you are struggling to engage the next generation of firefighters and fire officers, this program will provide you with a New Power Mindset. Learn how to read, map, and identify the four personalities within an organization. Understand what makes motivates them and learn how to use this newly acquired information on the fireground and within the walls of your firehouse. Among the topics covered are dealing with negativity, acknowledging compensating behaviors, determining the underlying root causes of problems, and building better relationships with those under your command.
