The Thailand's Smart-grid Roadmap 2015 - 2036 has been launched in February 2015. In executing the Roadmap; the Thailand's Short-term Smart grid Action Plan, covering the period of 2017-2021, was developed thus approved by the Committee on Energy Policy Administration (CEPA) in November 2016. Within such Action Plan; 3 pillars of Thailand's Smart-grid are determined namely Pillar-I (addressing Demand Response & Energy Management System aspects), Pillar-II (addressing Renewable Energy Forecast System aspect) and Pillar-III (addressing Microgrid & Energy Storage System aspects). Among these 3 pillars/5 aspects; DR is quite ahead of others as it has already been excercised several time in Thailand. Considering in Asia, for example, South Korea is undoubtedly one of the few countries where DR is most advance and well implemented nationwide. In this regard, it should be mutual beneficial for both countries to share experiences and learn from each other. This session will therefore portray the stage of advancement of DR and depicting the DR-outlook of both countries. Rationales for DR initiatives in both countries will be presented as well as case studies, barriers encountered and how Thailand and Korea have dealt with them. Key technologies and their trends are to be displayed. Present & potential future synergy and collaboration among main players will also be addressed.
