DCS is a brain and nerve of the plant which enables safe and effective operation. Since it supervises and control the entire plant equipment and components, wide range of engineering/design have to be covered, which requires long duration of engineering time. Sometimes design changes are required at the job site by various reasons, which require repeated commissioning works that may risk the project schedule delay. To improve engineering/design lead time and the qualities, the plant simulator has been developed which is compatible to various DCS hardware. The system employs actual logics of the plant and enables virtual operation therefore automatic plant starting up or shutdown or dynamic model of the plant can now be confirmed. Design verification is possbible prior to the actual site commission work. Further it will also be able to be used for the operator training. This paper explains main feature of newly developed DCS plant simulator.
