2016 AFCEA TechNet Augusta Conference and Expo

Army Defense Enterprise Email (DEE) and Army Enterprise Service Desk (AESD) Federation and AESD-Worldwide (AESD-W) Workshop (Room Cumming)

Approved for 1 CompTIA CEU: A+

Because Defense Enterprise Email (DEE) provides email support to 1.5 million unclassified and classified Army users, it is mission critical that Army commands understand the requirements and limitations of this communications system.  As the Army’s acquisition office for the Enterprise Email service, Product Director, Enterprise Content Collaboration and Messaging (PD EC2M) and its Project Officer Enterprise Email (PO EE) proactively engage Army DEE Group and Entitlement Managers and Command Representatives to prepare and educate them for upcoming DEE service milestones.  The primary training session goal is increased enterprise email manager and user understanding for Enterprise Services at all levels.  This in-person refresher training communicates current enterprise solutions and strategies, addresses user questions, provides guidance on future initiatives (cloud and storage services), and enforces a culture of stewardship among users.   The training further alerts attendees of critical enterprise email problems, current Army and DISA efforts for potential solutions, and how the audience can be a part of the solution.

The AESD Federation consists of theater service desks aligned to the five Regional Cyber Centers (RCCs) and selected Command service desks currently in operation until consolidated under a single responsible authority.  The Army Enterprise Service Desk (AESD) is to provide the single point of contact for all LandWarNet (LWN) Information Technology (IT) service requests, issues, and inquiries.  The workshop will bring together key stakeholders within the Army IT Community to discuss the current state of Service Desk Operations, opportunities to create efficiencies within the Army and to collaborate on future actions that will enable relevant information to decision makers within the Army.

AESD-W provides support to 1.5 million AKO users, Army users of DoD Enterprise Email and other Enterprise Services across the Army as well as 44 NECs under the 7th Signal Command (Theater).  The Army recently awarded a contract to Unisys Corporation to provide the service desk to the Army.  Service Desk is on both NIPRNet and SIPRNet.
