Since its inception, ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® has been the industry standard tool for benchmarking commercial building energy use and helping building owners and managers to target energy efficiency upgrades that reduce operational expenses. In 2016, recognizing the opportunity to expand the benchmarking capabilities of the Portfolio Manager platform, the EPA integrated waste tracking into the tool in order to help building owners promote sustainable materials management, which can further cut operational expenses and significantly reduce environmental impact. This panel of experts from US EPA and industry practitioners, using real-life examples, will explain the new functionality in Portfolio Manager and share strategies for successfully reducing materials waste.
