Moderator: Scott L. Blumenthal, MD
There is increasing interest in the use of cervical total disc replacement (TDR) for the treatment of symptomatic degenerative conditions of the cervical spine in patients who do not gain adequate relief from nonoperative management or who have progressive neurological symptoms.
The course content will include various aspects of cervical TDR, with particular focus on appropriate indications.
Upon completion of this symposium, participants should gain strategies to:
- List indications and contra-indications for cervical TDR;
- Describe clinical outcomes reported in the literature for cervical TDR compared with ACDF;
- Discuss complications encountered with cervical TDR and strategies to avoid them.>
