Collegiate athletes face unique mental health challenges due to the dualistic roles of being a student and an athlete. Understanding the developmental nature of athletic identity can help counselors foster successful transitions into life after sports. This poster session will present a model of athletic identity development and share a strengths-based career intervention to use with collegiate athletes. Because college athletes underuse mental health services, advocacy strategies also will be discussed.
