ID #263-Vicarious Traumatization: The Role of Mindfulness in Trauma Counselors’ Awareness (Room 518A)

Counselors working with trauma survivors may acquire maladaptive cognitive schemas regarding self, others, and the world that may facilitate pervasive and long-term negative psychological effects. Through the exploration of 73 psychotherapists’ responses to the Trauma Attachment and Beliefs Scale and the Cognitive and Affective Mindfulness Scale–Revised, this session explores the use of mindfulness-based activities for clinicians regularly exposed to trauma-focused client narratives.
