Professional counselors must be ready and prepared to work with a client who is thinking about suicide. Strong clinical skills for assessing and managing suicide risk in clients are becoming a necessity within the counseling profession. This session explores how well CACREP standards are positioning counselor education and supervision programs to meet this challenge. Implications for counselor educators and clinical supervisors will be discussed.
