Tragedies like the Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings initiated conversations about identifying and preventing future acts of school-based violence through state-mandated use of threat assessment teams. This session will briefly outline how threat assessment may have been used to prevent the aforementioned tragedies. The session will also briefly examine what measures other countries employ to prevent similar acts of violence.
